Before the Dutch came to South Africa is was a very calm and peaceful land. The Khoisan's lived there and married. They ranked their social status by owning cows. The more cows you owned the richer you are. Marriages were planned so family's could own more cows. They were hunter-gatherers and lived untroubled.
Apartheid

Apartheid began when the Dutch came and took over the African's land. They judged them by the color of their skin and took control. They punished and hurt them for speaking up and even imprisoned them. Apartheid ended in the 1990's when Nelson Mandela made South African history. Even though Apartheid is over, racism continues. he Boer War.
